Frequently asked questions

Email us if you can’t find the answer to your question. We’ll do our best to get back to you quickly!

Q: Can I get seedlings in 2024?

Yes!  We are planting lots of veggies, herbs and flowers.  All of our seedlings are certified organic. Come to our in-person Plant Sales Fridays and Saturdays only, from 8am-2pm: May 3rd through June 1st. You can also get our plants at Hunger Mountain Co-op from late April through mid June.

Q: How do I pay for my seedlings?

For our Friday and Saturday in-person Plant Sales, we accept cash, credit and debit cards, and local checks.

Q: Can Cate Farm take back my plastic pots? What about plastic trays?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept or reuse empty pots. This is a rule set in place for our organic certification. If you have a collection you would like to recycle, we recommend reaching out to local schools or community centers to see if they could put them to use.

Q: What do you recommend for potting soil?

We use Fort Vee potting soil from Vermont Compost Company and highly recommend their products for your garden or potted house plants. We sell 20 quart bags of their potting soil and compost at our plant sales in the spring.

Q: Can I bring my dog to the farm?

Kindly leave your four-legged friends at home.

Q: Do you ship seedlings?

We do not ship plants, sorry. We ship burdock root when in season and available.

Q: Do you offer online plant sales?

Unfortunately we are no longer able to accommodate plants for sale online. It was a tough decision, but online sales are very time consuming, and we do not have the staff capacity. Sorry for any inconvenience, and we hope to see you at our in-person Plant Sales here at Cate Farm.

We do sell gift certificates & burdock root (when available) through our website. Check our Products page for availability.
